Finding a beautiful wedding gown can be one of the most challenging phases a bride must overcome. Most women have dreamed of their wedding day ever since they were a little girl, dreaming is easy, but actualizing the dream is a big task, not to mention turning the dream dress into reality. Don't fret! Keep an inquisitive mind in the search for that beautiful wedding will be a breeze.

The Style for You

In finding your beautiful wedding gown, the first step you must take is to figure out what style you want. Wedding gowns have five basic beautiful and elegant styles. Select the style that showcases your character, flaunts your best assets and will make you feel like a queen on your special day. The first style would be A-line dresses which are fitted around the bodice and eventually flare out at the waist. A-line dresses are one of the most popular styles and are often referred to as "princess dresses."

The ball gown is another popular wedding gown style. It isn't the kind of gown that you might imagine to be part of fairy tales; it's a tight fitted bodice with a full skirt. The empire dress is the third style, with this cut the skirt starts falling from under the bust line with an elegant downward flow, this is a timeless and beautiful wedding gown style. The sheath or column dress is a style that's a bit more modern, it isn't a form fitting dress but is simply a straight line all the way down, perfect for petite ladies because it creates the illusion of a longer body. Last but not the least, there's the mermaid style for a wedding gown, a fitted dress with a flaring skirt from the knees.

Sleeves and Necklines

The five basic styles also have different styles of necklines and sleeves, try mix-matching the various kinds to figure out the one that looks great on you. The makings of a beautiful wedding gown would consist of the wide selection of necklines: bateau, scoop, halter, square and v-necklines. To find out which neckline suits you well, try on all the different neckline styles.

Aside from the neckline you'll have to settle on the type of sleeves you want for your dress. You might want to take in consideration the time of your marriage; obviously long sleeves aren't advisable for summer weddings. You'll also need to figure out where you're getting married because some churches do not allow strapless dresses. Speaking of which, strapless gowns are becoming very popular now. Sleeveless and strapless designs make beautiful wedding gowns. You can also find beautiful wedding gowns with long sleeves, 3/4 length sleeves and short sleeves.

Finally! 2009's gowns bring brides some real choices, after several years of strapless uniformity. (Thank you, Vera Wang!) If you're the type of bride who wants a couture (or couture-inspired) gown to match the finer shades of your personality and wedding style, 2009 is the year with your name on it! Here are a few of the hottest trends going:

Crumb-Catcher Bodices.

This regal, old-world design twist came from that same lust for luxe that brought us Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, and its subsequent style explosion in the bridal world.

Greek Goddess Columns.

The ultimate look backward, the style takes us back to the lovely goddesses (and early supermodels) of Greece's Golden Age. With plenty of glorious examples to be seen from bridal magazines to the red carpet, this style's not going away soon. Happily, it lends itself to arm bling and the half up-half down style that's still so alluring to brides. Also note: bridesmaids look amazing in goddess gowns when the bride's wearing something more structured.

Asymmetrical / One-Shouldered Styles.

These gowns are sexy attention-getters. Another hot commodity on the red carpet, the asymmetrical top adds up to an exciting departure from same-old strapless, while exuding plenty of come-hither vibes.

Subued Color Plays.

Color's no longer the domain of a bold -- or even distracting -- burst of contrast in the train or cuffed bodice of an otherwise stark-white gown. Instead, next year's color inspiration flows from Vera Wang's gowns in warm toasts and charcoals, St. Pucchi's fabulous champagne and platinum combos, or gowns that ripple with multicolored gardens of embroidery (Claire Pettibone).

The Mini.

No longer the oddball in an otherwise full-length portfolio, minis have become serious business, with layers and ruches and ruffles aplenty. Increasing number of brides find them a brilliant choice for tent weddings on the shore or in the vineyard. And let's not forget those brides who want a gorgeous but mobile second gown to get down and boogie the night away.

Pregnancy is seldom discussed outside of the context of procreation. In Kingdom Animalia, pregnancy is always about the fertilization of the ovum by a spermatozoon, the development of the foetus in the uterus and its delivery into this world as a neonate.

Biologically, females are the only gender capable of being impregnated. Much is done in the medical world to defy our natural sexual characteristics - by sexual transplants, introduction of various hormones into homosexuals, etc. But pregnancy for a non-female is a concept that may only be possible in the movies (reference: "Junior" which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger).

Pregnancy is natural in females - beast or human. For female beasts, not being capable of pregnancy is not an issue. Unless, of course, there are studies to prove otherwise. But under normal circumstances, it is only in humans that not being capable of pregnancy is an issue. Although pregnancy is taboo due to laws and cultural conditioning in some countries, it is not so and even encouraged in others, especially in Asian countries. A Chinese family becomes distressed when pregnancy does not occur after a certain period of time.

There are psychological issues that affect married couples that cannot make pregnancy happen. There is something in clan/family/tribe propagation that generates an inexplicable pride in the prospect of and the pregnancy itself. While it is the woman who gets pregnant and carries the child, it seems that the father is the one who basks in its taking shape. It is probably because it is a proof of his virility and ownership. Absence of pregnancy for a certain period of time sometimes causes for the man to desert the wife and take on another so as to be able to procreate successfully.

There is also the matter of unwanted pregnancies. To most women, pregnancy is an achievement, a milestone - something to be proud of. It can also be a source of pain and shame if it has taken place in a manner that is not conventionally and socially acceptable, not only to the girl or woman, but to the whole family as well. Especially to families which are closely knit in parochial communities.

Given the above premises, pregnancy, while it can only happen to a woman, is not exclusive in its cause and effect. It is something that needs to seriously be considered by all members of the human race. After all, pregnancy was the only method and vehicle by which all of us came into being. Unless, of course, you are some kind of a God who just descended unto the earth without the encumbrance of a mother's pain and suffering during childbirth.

Black and white is a huge color trend for 2010 weddings. Chic, striking, and very of the moment, it can be an excellent theme for a wedding. Get your wedding planning off to a running start by picking one of these perfect wedding gowns for a black and white wedding.

There is no doubt that Vera Wang is at the forefront of the black and white wedding gown trend this season. A large number of her gowns feature black sashes around the waist, the neck, or even draped asymmetrically across the bodice. The style of the sash matches the feeling of the gown, so a crisp silk gazar V-neck gown with a more traditional silhouette is accented with a tailored black accent at the waist with jeweled embellishment, while a floaty gown of layered fragile tulle with a deconstructed style features a wispy black tie around the neck.

For a more traditional bridal gown with black accents, consider Romona Keveza's full skirted strapless wedding dress with the sweetheart neckline and draped bodice. The shape is pure romance and bridal fantasy, while the beaded black belt at the waist adds gravitas and a modern flair. It would be a stunning choice for a black tie wedding with a black and white theme. Sparkling accessories, such as crystal bridal jewelry sets are the ideal accents for formal bridal gowns.

Black and white are naturally very chic, so another great option is a slinky sheath gown with a black ribbon at the waist, such as one made by Elizabeth Fillmore. It is the type of dress that would look equally at home on the Red Carpet of a glamorous premiere, save for the bridal veil. With a plunging neckline and black ribbon, this is a gown which is perfect for a bride who has a great figure and wants to make a statement when she walks down the aisle. An arm bouquet of white calla lilies tied with a black ribbon would be a fabulous bouquet with this wedding dress.

Jenny Packham also does a great bridal gown with a black accent. One of her standout designs is a slender strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline. At the neckline is a tiny keyhole cutout accentuated by a pert black bow. It is just the perfect little touch, and would be a wonderful dress for a bride who prefers a mostly white gown with just a delicate black accent for a surprise. Bridal jewelry sets with long crystal earrings would be lovely with the swingy skirt of this slender wedding gown.

Many other designers are offering great gowns for a black and white wedding, so by no means feel like these are your only options. Keep in mind, too, that it is usually possible to customize a bridal gown to make it fit the theme of your wedding. In other words, adding a black fabric belt, bow, or sash to the waist of a white wedding gown is a piece of cake. If the gown designer cannot make the change, the chances are that your seamstress can do it during alterations (just be sure to ask before buying the gown). There are other ways to add black accents to a white wedding dress, such as a white veil with a narrow black lace border, or a black lace shrug to wear for the ceremony. Or wear an all-white gown with black and white wedding jewelry, such as a pearl and jet crystal combination. And don't forget about your wedding bouquet as an accessory; a bouquet of white anemones with black centers would be gorgeous for a black and white theme wedding, whatever gown you happen to select.

If you are a plus size bride, looking for the perfect wedding dress can be a real pain. However in recent years plus size wedding dresses have become less rare than it once was. More and more designers are carrying dresses in their collection that is made to fit all types of sizes and body types. It's definitely not as challenging to find a dress that looks great on your full figure.

Plus size wedding dresses can be found in a number of different places. Your first stop should be the bridal boutiques. Call to check if they carry any dresses in your size to try on. If they do, set up an appointment for a fitting. There might not be a huge selection for you to choose from, but you can still get a general idea of what styles look good on you. Then there are the discount bridal chains such as David's Bridal. This type of store will have a full range of sizes, all you have to do is scour the store to find your size. There are stores that specialize in custom made wedding gowns which you can also look into. Find one that's nearby where you live so it will be convenient to do fittings. Last but not least, look online for websites that have wedding dresses in your size. If you already know what style looks good on you, it should not be too difficult to find something appropriate online.

When you go to a bridal boutique for a fitting, make sure you can get as much advice from the bridal consultant as possible. They have dressed hundreds of brides and seen all types of figures. They should have a good idea of the types of dresses that are the most flattering for your shape. You can be more voluptuous on top or have a distinct pear shape. Keep in mind that not all plus size wedding dresses are appropriate for all plus size brides. Leave it up to the expert to find the right style for you.

There are many ways to wear plus size wedding dresses that make the bride look slimmer. An empire waist is a great style, the waistline is right beneath the chest which makes the tummy area less noticeable. A darker colored sash around the waist gives the illusion of a smaller cinched waist. A-line cut dresses flow from the waist to the floor and is great for women who are heavier on the bottom. There are many other techniques that can be used by playing with colors, fabrics and textures to make our bride look and feel her best on her big day.

There are two more things that every plus size bride should know. It's better to wear a wedding dress that is simple and sleek than to pile on the embellishments. Having too much going on is not a good look for our plus size bride. Finally, never underestimate how important underwear is for making you look incredible. Remember Spanks can do wonders, so go out there and do a little underwear shopping before looking for the right dress. When you wear the proper underwear you will feel amazing in all the dresses you try on.

Every woman wants to look good in her wedding gown. And most women, no matter their size, find it a challenge to find a gown that show of their shape. At least with plus size wedding dresses, designers have wised up and started creating flattering, sexy dresses for women of all sizes, so we have more choices. Still, getting the right fit is important. Here are a few things to keep in mind when picking out a plus size wedding gown that fits your shape well.

First, you can consider having a dress made. If you go with a boutique that has wedding gowns made to order, you choose a designer and design and they will have specially made. Even if buying off-the-rack, a wedding dress can still be made to fit. Some shops that sell off-the-rack will order your size, take your measurements and make alterations when it arrives. Or you are responsible for your own alterations, if any are needed. Wedding gowns off the rack tend to run small in size, even plus size wedding gowns. A gown listed as a size 20 might actually better fit a woman who is a size 18. You may want to order your wedding gown one size up and have it altered to the next close size. It is crucial that when trying on gowns, you must wear the same type of undergarments and shoes at the fitting that you will in the dress. This is especially important for us healthy women, because we tend to wear more "body shaping" undergarments, particularly under special outfits. If try on your wedding gown in a different bra, stockings, slip, etc. than the undies you'll be wearing later, the fit and the look of our wedding dress may change on the big day-not a surprise that you want. Many women lose weight before wedding, especially right before with not only dieting, but just general business and nerves. If possible, try to plan for a fitting and alteration a few weeks before the wedding.

Shopping for a wedding gown should be a joyous occasion. For plus sized brides, however, the experience is often more frustrating and depressing than it is uplifting, which is a terrible shame. It does not have to be that way! Finding a beautiful plus sized wedding gown is definitely very doable, and it can be the happy experience that every bride deserves. These are some great tips on shopping for plus sized wedding gowns.

Tip No. 1: First Shop for a Bridal Salon. More than anything else, the staff at the salon will determine how good or bad your dress shopping experience is. Some bridal salons are built around the spirit that their purpose is to help every bride feel absolutely stunning on her wedding day, especially those women who may never have felt that way before in their lives. Unfortunately, there are also places where the staff may turn up their noses at women who do not fit the sample size. Run screaming from those bridal shops! An easy way to get a feel for a bridal salon is to call ahead for an appointment and mention that you are looking for a plus sized gown. Does the shop say, "Great, we would be happy to help you" or do they say, "Well, we only carry size 8s"?

Tip No. 2: Don't Worry About Sample Size. Some stores will have plus sized samples on hand, which is certainly helpful. They will typically be found in stores which carry a lot of off-the-rack wedding gowns, though, as those are the salons which keep size ranges in stock. While is is a great feeling to be able to try on a wedding gown which actually fits, ready-made dresses have the distinct disadvantage of being hard to change. If you are a petite woman who wears a size 20 dress, the gown which zips comfortably will also be way too long for you (all manufacturers increase the length of the bodice and skirt with each size increase). Brides who like the quality of materials and design found only in designer gowns will rarely find a store which carries a plus sized sample to try, but that is okay! A well-trained bridal consultant can help you understand how a gown will look on you when it is the proper size, regardless of how the sample fits, so try to keep an open mind.

Tip No. 3: Consider Customization. Women also come in all different shapes and sizes, and the pear shaped bride who wears a different size on top than the bottom would be better off ordering a combination size from the designer rather than trying to drastically alter the half of a ready-made dress which is the wrong size. If you have found a salon where you feel very comfortable, they will be able to assist you in making pattern and design changes that can turn a very pretty gown into an absolutely beautiful one. You might even find that you like the top of one dress and the cut of the skirt or the beadwork on another. Many designers can make special pattern changes to get you just the gown that you want.

Tip No. 4: Fit is First. Never choose a wedding gown based on style or details over how flattering the silhouette is. You will look far more beautiful in a gown which cuts a tiny waistline, gives you a gorgeous hourglass silhouette, and trims your tummy than one which is made in your favorite lace but does not give you a great shape. Always remember that a plain gown in a fantastic cut can be embellished, but if the cut is unflattering, the dress will do you no justice, no matter how exquisite the beading. Another option is to add fabulous accessories to a flattering gown that needs a little more wow. Add a dazzling set of crystal bridal jewelry, a veil with a beaded edge, and a sparkling bridal headpiece which complements your crystal jewelry - your entire look will instantly go from nice to incredible.

Tip No. 5: Be Kind to Yourself. It can be disheartening to struggle with sample gowns that do not zip or trendy styles that only look good on size 8s, but don't let it make you feel bad about yourself. After all, your fiance loves you just the way you are, so you should try to do yourself the same favor. And remember that the perfect wedding gown is out there for every bride, and you will definitely find yours!
