Plus Sized

Due to the consuming response to my first clause on plus sized clothing, I distinct to write a follow up article. This second installment contains more useful tips on clothing styles that plus sized women should avoid. Please keep in mind that I myself am a plus sized woman, so I have a lot of experience in shopping, wearing and tracking plus sized fashion trends.

1. Lace or colored leggings-A pair of black leggings is the perfect accessory with the right distance dress on any body type. But, the new trend of colored or lace leggings ar just tacky! No plus sized woman should ever wear them due their tendency to draw negative attention to larger legs. They will only make your thighs and calves look bigger and I do not see why any curvier girl would want to make that particular fashion statement. If you ar going to wear leggings, stick to black or brown.

2. Jeans with elastic waist bands- We’ve all seen these jeans in the plus sizing section of discount stores. I know its tempting to buy a pair of these because they ar more comfortable than regular jeans that leave that notorious button mark on your stomach. But, the truth is that elastic waist band jeans ar only appropriate for old ladies. Curvier girls need a bit of structure built into our clothes in order to give us a more cohesive shape. It will take time and patience but, once you have found the right pair of jeans go ahead and buy two pairs. This way you will always have a back up pair in case the other one’s fabric starts to break down.

3. Low ride jeans-I have seen more plus sized girls abusing this trend than I care remember. Low ride jeans ar just not for curvier women. I am sorry but, jeans that sit low on the waist will create the dreaded muffin top and make you look unattractive and sloppy. Higher rise jeans in a darker wash ar much more flattering on a curvier frame.

4. Chiffon Shrugs or Ponchos- I am just non a fan of these surging coverups. Especially in a loud pattern, these just scream to the world that you are non comfortable with your curves and that you are trying to cover them up rather than accentuating them in a positive way. Instead, try a cardigan perspirer with a belt. The trick is to find something more form fitting without overdoing it. If you wear something obviously too tight than that will lead to revealing rolls in all the wrong places. Get to know your body and find out where your trouble zones are and how to work with them rather than against them.
